The Beaconsfield Citizens Association (BCA)

The Original Volunteer Rescue Squad

The Volunteer Rescue Squad's original members were trained and certified first responders and participated in many City of Beaconsfield events.

Members of the squad were on call 24 hours a day to take action during emergency situations such as natural disasters, flooding, evacuation, major accidents or search and rescue.

Testimonials:

Volunteer squad will be sorely missed
Letter to the Editor, Gazette West Island
Thursday, February 28, 2008

I am so saddened to hear of the recent actions leading to the resignation of many members of the Beaconsfield Volunteer Rescue Squad ("Volunteer squad quits Beaconsfield," The West Island Gazette, Jan. 3).

As the grateful recipient of Edwin Rouppe van der Voort's brave actions during the ice storm of '98, and a witness to other manifestations of the squad's bravery and training, I know these volunteers will be greatly missed by our community.

Their professionalism at countless sporting and community events - and the peace of mind that Beaconsfield residents, knowing that help was only seconds away - will be sorely missed.

Jill Rothberg,
Beaconsfield
